Foundations for Agility

Leslie Baumann, Instructor
Ages 5 months to 3 years.
Class limited to six dogs and handlers.

A new Foundations of Agility class session begins in January 2012. Leslie has a few openings for this popular class.

This class teaches a solid foundation of life skills for you and your dog to use all the time, not just in Agility training and competition.  Dogs should be able to sit when asked and walk on a leash without reacting towards other dogs or people. This is a training class to develop a better relationship with your dog, it is NOT an exercise class. This popular class has a maximum number of six teams. To enroll, or for more information, contact instructor Leslie Baumann at Leslie@greatdogstuff.com or 219-462-9520.

Course length: 8 weeks.  Price: $120

Drop-in, $20 per class

Canine Good Citizens

This is a "finishing" class for pet dog obedience. Most therapy dog programs start with the "CGC." In addition to basic manners at home and in the community, the CGC emphasizes confidence in social situations such as walking through crowds, reacting to friendly strangers, to other dogs, and to distractions such as loud noises or wheelchairs. An optional test is given at the end of this eight class session.

Class Duration: 8 weeks
Cost: $100

Basic Obedience

A six week session for adult and adolescent dogs teaches you how to train your dog to sit, stay, down, come and NOT to pull on leash. This class also addresses typical dog issues such as jumping up on people, inappropriate barking, and crate training. Only positive training methods are used in class.

Duration:  6 weeks
Cost: $80

Tricky Tricks Class

Thursdays at 6:30 pm (Beginning May 12)

Fetch your keys? Close the door? Jump through hoops? All this and more are made possible with this fun course. Tricks range from basic obedience commands, such as teaching your dog to sit, stay, down – as well as more challenging tricks and obstacle course fun. We will also include some exposure to the clicker as a training tool while you learn many fun activities for you and your dog. By learning the positive methods used in this course, both you and your dog can enjoy these tricks-and the applause-for many years to come!

Course length: 6 weeks. Taught by Linda Knol,  our Obedience Instructor.
Class Duration: 50 minutes
Price: $85 ($80 for CCC members)

Puppy Obedience Class

For dogs 10 weeks to 17 weeks old
Thursdays at 5:30 p.m.

Our puppy classes specifically focus on teaching bite inhibition (gentle jaws), socialization with other dogs and people (especially children, men and strangers), calming and handling, attention, off-leash household manners/obedience, and the prevention of behavior and temperament problems.   Our goal is to teach dogs to thoroughly enjoy the company of people and other dogs while shaping good-natured and well-mannered adult dogs.  *If your puppy is reactive towards other dogs, or if your puppy is fearful or unfriendly to people, we recommend a private consultation(s) with our instructor before classes begin.

Class Duration: 50 minutes
Price:
$85 ($80 for CCC members)
