Canine Country Club

We’re expecting a big crowd for this fund raising event for the American Cancer Society.  All dogs must be on leash that day while the Walk and the Derby are going on.   We will resume normal off-leash activities after 4:00 p.m. that day.  We are in need of volunteers to help with parking and logistics.  If you can help that day, please let us know ahead of time so we can get you on the roster!  If you can’t help, we hope that you’ll come out to support this event and have a good time with your dogs!   We have some great donations for the silent auction and raffle.  We will have food and fun while we support the American Cancer Society.  Thanks in advance for your help and support of CCC and this worthwhile cause.  http://relayforlife.org/valpoin 

It’s only nine days away!  Our office will be closed for the weekend (5/25 – 5/28), so the park will be open for members only.  The park will be open for the holiday on Monday, May 28th until 2:00 p.m!    Because of the upcoming Bark for Life event on June 2nd, we’ll need the afternoon and evening to mow and get the CCC grounds looking their best!

Due to popular demand, Valparaiso Kennel Club is offering the Canine Good Citizen obedience class for the spring session.  This is an excellent class for any dog, covering basic obedience and manners at home and in the community, and building confidence in social situations such as walking through crowds, reacting to friendly strangers and to other dogs and distractions.  Read all about it on our classes tab, and contact VKC before it’s too late!

How about K9 Nose Work?  It is an up and coming lower impact canine sport that sharpens dogs’ natural scenting abilities through fun and games.  Any and all dogs can participate. We’re holding our first Nose Work class on Sunday, April 15th.  For the class description and the instructor’s biography please see the “classes” tab on this website.  This sport, like all dog sports, strengthens the bond between dog and owner.  We hope you’ll support CCC and give this new venture a try!  We’d like to offer one weekend class or workshop per month if it works out.

Dogs and owners will take a 1 mile walk in the (dog) park to raise money for the Relay for Life/American Cancer Society.   We will have a raffle of mostly dog-related items, dog rescue organizations, dog sports demonstrations, and dog-related vendors and services will be here on the premises.  Food will be available.  The conclusion of the event will be our annual Dachshund Derby, a light hearted competition of some of the area's finest and fastest Weiner Dogs!  All proceeds from the day will be donated to the Relay for Life/American Cancer Society.  We hope you and your four-legged* friends will come out to enjoy the day and support  this most significant cause.                           

Please mark your calendars for this walk in the park!  Our annual Dachshund Derby will be a part of this event.  Details will follow very soon, but we’re accepting offers for help RIGHT NOW! 

When I posted that the office would be closed until March 10th, that date seemed so distant……  Now it’s a week away!

We’ll be reopening just in time to “spring forward” to more daylight each day.  We’ll see you on the 10th!

There are a few rare openings in Leslie’s “Foundations for Agility” class on Tuesday nights at 7:00 in our heated clubhouse building.   If you made a new year’s resolution to spend more time with your dog, this class is for you!!!  For the class description and more information, click our “classes” tab.
