PUBLIC HEARING DECEMBER 16TH
December 10 2009
Many of you have noticed the sign posted in our front yard. We have applied for a variance so that we can knock down our old (open sided) machine shed by the training yard, and replace it with a new, insulated pole building where we can hold training classes in inclement weather, including the winter months. Since this summer, we have been jumping through bureaucratic hoops and red tape! It makes no difference that this property has been in my family for 65 years……. but don’t get me started! We really don’t anticipate any problems, but we have hired a lawyer to face the zoning board for us, as they can be quite intimidating. Several of our members have offered to come to the meeting. We appreciate these offers very much, but the attorney said that attendance and positive testimonials from members should not really be necessary. He said a neighboring property owner would carry more weight if there were any complaints voiced at the meeting….. We really feel that a building will provide more opportunity for us to offer fun things to do with our canine friends, and will allow our classes to be held as scheduled rather than be ruled by the weather. Otherwise, we never would have endured the expense and hassles required to go through this! Wish us luck!
