SCHOOL’S STARTING ALREADY!!!

August 24 2010

And, for the first time in 33 years (51 including student years), Bob’s not going!  Now, if the mowing and yard work will slow down a bit, he may actually start to feel retired!   By the way, Bob asked me to mention how clean (doody free) the park has been the past several weeks, and to compliment our members and express our appreciation.   We are preparing for our big fall event, Responsible Dog Ownership Day.  After the Popcorn Fest, and after the Oz Fest, comes WOOFSTOCK-- this year’s celebration of love for dogs and responsible dog ownership.  We’ll have local rescue groups, obedience, agility, and other demonstrations along with dog-related services and vendors on Saturday, September 25th. Pretty Paws Pet Photography will be here.   We may have a contest for best hippie costume for the dogs too (people will be optional)!  Please ask your rescue organizations to contact us about participating, and let us know if you have any good ideas or requests for Woofstock, an indoor-outdoor open house here at CCC.

We’ll also have the official Grand Opening of our new “Clubhouse” building during Woofstock.  Agility, Puppy, and Obedience classes are being held there right now.  (We’re enrolling now for our fall session, beginning in early September.)  Valparaiso Kennel Club has Conformation class on Wednesday nights.  We are looking for and talking to prospective demonstrators and instructors for canine massage, Doga, dog Frisbee and Flyball, and would love to hear any ideas or requests (we’ll have the Canine CPR and First Aid this fall) offered by our members and friends.  We want to make the building available for small, dog-related gatherings, parties, workshops, playgroups, etc.  Valpo Kennel club will begin holding their weekly classes in the “Clubhouse” this fall.

In park news, the fence in the training yard will be going back to its original position, and will be attached to the corners of the Clubhouse—in spite of the failure of the grass out there--  We’ll try again later on that.  Also, we want to install some hand sanitizing stations in the park soon.   We have a video camera that will eventually be installed near the park entrance…  As you might imagine, our finances are very tight this summer…  We appreciate your patience and understanding, and are excited about the future at CCC.
